This site will contain details about my photography, and a picture or two.
I started serious photography back in 1993 when I decided to renew my old Boots instant point and shoot camera that I had as a kid, with something more useful. A friend of mine had been using a SLR camera for some time, and I thought that his camera looked all right but I wanted some thing a bit more automatic as I know very little about f-stops and such.
Well I first worked out a budget and armed with this I set out to buy a camera. I had passed a shop in my local town Petersfield, a number of times and decided I would start there. A wise move as it turned out. The sales assistant was himself a keen amateur. So the advice I received was genuine and extremely helpful.
After explaining my main objectives that I wanted a camera to learn with, but offered automatic modes to start with, so I could progress to more manual and flexible options later on. Well the two cameras he demonstrated were a Minolta automatic SLR and a Canon EOS range SLR. I fancied the Canon so that's what I brought, the Canon EOS 1000FN.
The most impressive thing the salesman offered was. If I took a roll of film back to him for processing, he would demonstrate how to improve the pictures by using the correct camera features. This is definitely some thing Boots, Dixons etc. does not offer. As a result I regularly use the shop, and have purchased lenses, film, bags, tripods etc. Big multiple chain stores take note.
